The “chaturanga” was played 4 players by two players from each side. The sequence of the moves was defined by rolling the dice. To win, one had to destroy all the figures of the opponent including the king or to stalemate (that also led to victory). There were figures of four colors – black, green, red and yellow. The king, a castle and a horse moved like in modern chess.

From India game extended to the East and to Forward Asia. And in IV-V-century - to Iran. There it changed a look a little, improved and "Shatranj" began to be called. The new figure - the adviser to the king, i.e. a queen was entered. In Shatranj two player played already and the purpose began to deliver a mat to the king. The secret of game was guessed by the wise man Vazirmiskh. In reply the shah sent a backgammon, but scientists of India of a secret of sledge didn't guess.
